Center Time

Three times a week, the children go to literacy centers.  This is a time when I am meeting with individuals or small groups to provide enrichment.  While I am busy with that, the children go to two different centers of their choice.  Below are several examples of how the children are spending their independent learning time.

This is the listening station where the first graders listen to books being read fluently.

These children are practicing reading a poem learned in class.

Practicing words that are on our word wall helps us remember how to spell the words.

Independent writing allows the children time to write about anything they want.

Reading books!
