Studying Solids

Over the past couple of weeks, the children have been doing many experiments with solid materials.  

We worked together to sort out the different parts of a bean soup mix:

We made art out of beans for an art connection: 

And we started an experiment to find out what happens when solids are placed in water for 24 hours.  This is what each solid looked like after sitting in water overnight.  Ask your first grader to describe what's happening and leave us a message in the comments!
