What's New in First Grade?

WOW!  This group of children did a Fantastic job on their math-a-thon tests.  Look for the tests and pledge sheets to come home Monday in the take-home folder.  Even if you did not make a pledge previously, donations are still appreciated and accepted.  Money is due back to the school by November 30th.

This past week in math, we explored capacity.  We used rice and marbles to explore the concepts of full, almost full, half full, and almost empty.  What a fun way to learn!

The weather has certainly changed in a hurry!  As you are purchasing all of your child's new winter gear, please remember to label every item with his/her name.  Once we have 25 sets of mittens, hats, snow pants, and boots hanging in the hallway it can get quite confusing to tell them apart.

I have given a couple of lessons to the class about not turning your coat sleeves inside out each time you take off your coat. Then when it comes time to get coats on again, some children are struggling with putting the coats on again. Please reinforce this at home.
