Busy December Days

We have been so busy learning I've been forgetting to take pictures.  But this is the gorgeous view we had of the woods this morning:

Reader's Workshop:
We have been studying non-fiction texts and comparing them to fiction stories.  The children have noticed they can learn a lot of new information from reading non-fiction.  Slowing down to study each page to learn as much as you can is a new habit we are working on.  We are also looking carefully at headings to see what each section is going to be about.

Math:
We have been using our doubles facts as a strategy to know other addition facts.

Writer's Workshop:
We have just begun writing non-fiction stories.  Please keep talking with your children about things they know a lot about.

This is the cutest little penguin project we have been working on.  Look for it in the hallways soon along with a writing activity to go along with it.

Here are a few first snowy day recess pictures.  It was fantastic packing snow!
