Happy New Year!

I hope everyone has enjoyed their winter break!  I am ready to get back into the routine with the children.  The first few days will be spent reviewing and practicing previously learned routines and skills.

I want to send a very heart-felt thank you to everyone who contributed to the class gift.  What a generous assortment of items!  It is a joy for me to spend each day with all of your children.

This week in word study, the children will be learning the -ing and -ang words.  They will also be reviewing some of the trimester 2 high frequency words.  Everyone should be able to read and write all of these words:  one, out, him, as, or, get, look, her, back, had, come, by, came, his, make, of, now, have, are, into, that, and said.  If you practice these words at home with your child & send me a note, your child will receive a sticker!  :)

In math, we will be finishing up a unit where we are adding with doubles, adding doubles +1 more, adding doubles +2 more, and working with 2D shapes.

In reading, the class will be finishing up a unit on getting to know the characters in our books.  We will also be solidifying some ways we can talk about books with our reading partner.

Our Social Studies unit on the government will continue.  We will learn about the words constitution, laws, and government.

The class was very busy working on various projects during December.  Enjoy the many pictures I've been taking!  Just hover over an individual picture to enlarge it.
