Small Moments Launch

Today we started our first unit in writer's workshop called Small Moments.  We started making a chart on how to write a story.  My goal is that the children will be writing many, many stories of things that happened to them.  Today, I modeled writing the story of our fire drill.  Then everyone went off to begin their own stories.  When little things happen at home, please help your child recognize them by suggesting this might be a story they could write at school.  For example, taking a bike ride with Dad, helping Mom do the grocery shopping, making a bracelet with a friend, or even taking a walk in the neighborhood could all become stories.
