Week 2

We have had such a busy week! Here are some picture highlights:

This week, we learned the expectations for Read to a Buddy.   Each day, the children will be reading with their assigned reading partner.  They will read and talk about books together.  So far, we have about 15 minutes of reading stamina.  I am so proud of my little readers!

If the class can "Knock my socks off!" by having great behavior or working hard, they will earn a prize.  They voted that they would like to have a day to bring in their own stuffed animal.  Only 3 more socks to go!

Next week, during our word study time, we will continue our review of reading and writing the kindergarten sight words. We are also taking a look at what makes a sentence along with how to tell the difference between a telling and asking sentences. Please refer to our word study sheet to see what words to practice.

The first graders will continue to build their reading stamina, practice choosing good-fit books for themselves, and work on deepening their understanding of teen numbers. Dreambox will be introduced.  This is an on-line math program all elementary children will be using this year in the Grafton Schools.  In Social Studies, we will continue to learn about family, culture, and school.
