Monday Update

This past week the class studied our 5 senses.  To help them learn, each child was given their own gourd.  When we wrote about our gourds we thought about our 5 senses.  Everyone did a great job!  I also took a picture of each child with their gourds.

Math: This week we will continue to learn to tell time on an analog clock.  Everyone was so excited to learn to tell time to the nearest hour last week!  Please have your child take a hunt around your home and count up the number of analog and digital clocks in your home.  If you have your child bring me in a sheet of paper telling me how many analog and digital clocks are in your home, I will have a small prize for him/her.

On Thursday we will be doing a little flip-flop of our schedule.  We have a math trainer from Stepping Stones who is going to teach a lesson to my class in the morning, rather than our normal afternoon math time.  The first grade teachers from the district will all be in observing the lesson.  What an exciting opportunity!

Science:  We continue our study of rocks.  Take a look around your home and see how many different items were made using rocks!

Writing:  This week the children will begin writing how-to stories.  We will expand these stories from Kindergarten by adding in more details and sentences.
